Wellness programs often fall short, report finds

Workplace wellness programs have grown in popularity among employers seeking to control healthcare spending, but many programs aren’t comprehensive enough to make a difference, according to a new report.

Few firms offer programs that are customized to make a difference in employees’ lives, and few employers are championing the programs and communicating the goals and expectations of these programs, according to the report from Center for Studying Health System Change. The study was prepared for the not-for-profit, nonpartisan National Institute for Health Care Reform.
