Watsonville Community Hospital plans to begin diverting ambulances carrying critical patients from its emergency room today in anticipation of strike by nurses. Nurses plan to walk off the job for 24 hours, starting at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, in hopes of jump-starting lagging contract talks. Spokeswoman Cindy Weigelt said the hospital has no choice, but to begin to pare services.
