Use of Diabetes Oral Meds On the Rise

Between 1997 and 2007, an additional 8.7 million people in the U.S. were using oral medications to treat diabetes, an increase in the percentage of people with diabetes of from 59.9% to 77.3%.

That’s according to a brief by the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. “By contrast, the proportion using insulin dropped from 38.2% in 1997 to 24.4% in 2007,” the report said.
