U.S. Supreme Court to decide if states can cut Medi-Cal payments to health care providers
Sacramento Business Journal

The U.S. Supreme Court announced Tuesday it will decide whether California and other states can cut the amounts they pay doctors, hospitals and other providers under Medicaid, the government health care program for the poor. Oral arguments in the case are expected to be heard next fall, with a decision expected in late 2011 or early 2012. The case could have a major impact on Gov. Jerry Brown’s plan to close a projected $25.4 billion state budget gap, in part, with a 10 percent Medi-Cal provider cut.
