Universal coverage bill goes to Vt. governor

The Vermont House of Representatives passed a bill (PDF) that would implement a statewide universal publicly funded healthcare system, paving the way for the bill to be signed into law by Gov. Peter Shumlin later this month. Shumlin has said he intends to sign the bill. The Vermont House approved the bill, 94-49, on Thursday. The state’s Senate passed the bill on Tuesday. Both the state’s Senate and the House had given approval for earlier versions of the bill.
