San Francisco Business Times

A collaboration between UCSF, Kaiser Permanente and Affymetrix Inc.genotyped the DNA of some 100,000 people in just 15 months, unlocking doors to medical researchers for years to come. The $24.8 million project, funded by the National Institutes of Health’s federal stimulus program outlay, is significant in several ways. For one, it provides researchers with a wealth of genetic information from 100,000 Kaiser Permanente health plan members in northern California who volunteered for the project.
