UCI overdoses blamed on lack of nurse training

 Five UCI Medical Center patients received overdoses of narcotics and sedatives because nurses were not properly trained to use pain pumps, according to a federal inspection report released Thursday. The inspection was triggered by a July complaint by the California Nurses Association about the pumps. The report is not yet public, but was voluntarily provided to The Register by UCI.
