Sacramento Business Journal

Researchers at the UC Davis School of Medicine will train Native American communities in Northern California to develop culturally appropriate ways to fight obesity and diabetes, thanks to a $1 million grant from the National Institutes of Health. The two-year research initiative will train members of Native American communities in Mendocino, Glenn, Butte, Tehama and Colusa counties to perform research on their own people and come up with ways to stem high rates of obesity and disease associated with excess weight.
