UC Davis receives $1 million to improve Native American health

Researchers at the UC Davis School of Medicine will work with Native Americans in Northern California to decrease obesity and type-2 diabetes, and they’ll pay for it with a $1 million grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Kidney Diseases of the National Institutes of Health. The communities researchers will focus on include the Round Valley Indian Tribes of Covelo in Mendocino County, and communities served by Northern Valley Indian Health, Inc., which include Glenn County and portions of Butte, Tehama and Colusa counties.
