Two Stanford hospitals declare impasse over nurse contracts

Stanford Hospital & Clinics and the affiliated Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital said Tuesday that contract talks with the Committee for Recognition of Nursing Achievement have reached a stalemate. As a result, the two Stanford University medical centers say they’ve declared the talks to be at impasse and are imposing previously offered contracts. This followed more than a year of fruitless negotiations with the union, which represents about 2,700 nurses at the two Palo Alto facilities.
