Tenet’s earnings double as hospital visits rise

Tenet Healthcare Corp. ’s second-quarter earnings more than doubled, as the company benefited from more surgeries, hospital admissions, outpatient visits and pricing improvements. The Dallas-based the parent company of Lakewood Regional Medical Center and other Southern California hospitals reported net income of $55 million, or 11 cents per share, in the three months that ended June 30, compared to $25 million, or $0.05 per diluted share, for the second quarter of 2010. Revenue increased 3.1 percent to $2.37 billion from $2.3 billion a year ago.
