Orange County Register

St. Joseph Hospital’s cancer center has been awarded $3.1 million in federal stimulus funds to expand treatment and outreach programs in Orange County. Nancy Harris, administrator of the hospital’s Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment, said the money will pay for 11 new jobs and 12 projects. Only members of the National Cancer Institute’s Community Cancer Centers Program, which was started to offer patients better access to the latest cancer research outside of major academic medical centers, could apply for the funds.
