State retains funding for medical program

Nearly one hundred days after it was due, the California legislature passed and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into effect the 2010-2011 state budget. The signing was imperative to the UC Riverside School of Medicine without which the school would not have had the $10 million in support to open, said dean of UC Riverside’s medical school, G. Richard Olds. “Today [October 8] is when the real story begins, it was a gamble on the front end…there is no school without money,” Olds said.
