Stanford hospital officials reached a tentative contract agreement with their nursing union this week that includes 4 percent raises but puts in place a new career advancement system nurses say will lead to demotions. Stanford Hospital & Clinics and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital announced the agreement in a joint statement with the Committee for Recognition of Nursing Achievement on Thursday. The hospitals and union had been in contentious talks for most of the year and each credited a federal mediator for helping them reach a tentative contract over the past few months.
