The CEO of Southwest Healthcare System is resigning as part of sweeping changes intended to correct problems that threaten the survival of two southwest Riverside County hospitals, the president of Southwest’s parent company said Wednesday.

“I fully recognize that Southwest has issues that must be addressed immediately,” said Marc D. Miller, president of Universal Health Services, the Pennsylvania-based company that owns Southwest. “Universal and Southwest will spare no expense to achieve that goal.”
