SoCal Kaiser workers strike; negotiations may affect NorCal talks

Health care workers at Kaiser Permanente’s flagship Los Angeles Medical Center and dozens of other work sites in Southern California walked off the job Wednesday to protest proposed cuts to retirement benefits and health benefits at a time of record company profits. The one-day strike by up to 2,500 members of the National Union of Healthcare Workers also called attention to concern about safe staffing and the ability to provide timely mental health services to Kaiser members throughout Southern California.
