Small firms face rising health insurance costs
Orange County Register

Linda Stone, chief executive of APR Consulting with offices in Irvine and Diamond Bar, estimates her health insurance premiums have increased 24 percent this year. Enrolled agent Judee Slack, president of Slack Tax Inc. in Fountain Valley, said her health insurance premiums would have soared 150 percent because she needed to add her husband to the company policy. Instead, they changed to a high-deductible ($2,700) health savings account combined with an HMO, which held the increase to 14.5 percent.
