The Mercury News

San Francisco officials have backed off plans to privatize security at two city hospitals. The proposal was not included in the $6.8 billion budget package finalized by the Board of Supervisors’ budget committee last week. The full board is expected to take the first of two votes on the package on July 19. Mayor Ed Lee had proposed turning over security at San Francisco General Hospital and Laguna Honda Hospital to a private firm.
