The Mercury News

San Francisco officials are considering turning over security at two city hospitals to private companies. San Francisco General Hospital and Laguna Honda Hospital are currently patrolled by police officers and sheriff’s deputies. City officials say replacing them with private security guards would save millions of dollars. The supervisors’ budget committee could decide on Thursday whether to include the privatization plan in the final budget package it submits to the full board.
