Sequoia Healthcare District’s survival may hinge on election

If three men running for the same number of seats on the Sequoia Healthcare District board are elected next week, their first order of business will be to try dismantling the district. One of them, incumbent Jack Hickey, has been on that mission since his election in 2006 on a promise that he would “force this district to validate its existence or dissolve.” But that was easier said than done because he is a lone voice of dissent on the board. Now he’s campaigning for re-election with two challengers he recruited — retired engineer Fred Graham and businessman Michael Stogner.
