Senators offer bill to reduce Medicare spending

Two senators introduced legislation to reduce Medicare spending by $500 billion (PDF) over the next 10 years.

The legislation sponsored by Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) to reduce Medicare spending and provide a three-year “fix” to Medicare’s physician reimbursement formula comes as Democrats and Republicans at the highest levels of government search for ways to control entitlement spending as part of a deficit-reduction package.
