Senate health care plan a ‘building block’

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus stood alone Wednesday, delivering his long-awaited health care plan without one Republican at his side and a chilly welcome from House Speaker . But the plan, still too radical for conservatives and too meek for liberals who want a government-run insurance option, broadly meets many of President Obama’s objectives. It presents perhaps the best chance Democrats have to overhaul the nation’s $2.5 trillion health care market, a political imperative for the White House and Congress.
