Scripps announces ambitious plan for La Jolla hospital
San Diego Union-Tribune

Scripps Health announced a $2 billion plan Wednesday to rebuild its Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla over the next 25 years, spurred by the need to meet looming state seismic regulations and to remain a major player in this region’s ultracompetitive health care market.

The plan includes eventually demolishing the hospital that has overlooked Interstate 5 at Genesee Avenue since 1964, as three new towers, two medical buildings, and an outpatient pavilion come on line.
