Santa Cruz County employers worry about marijuana measure
The Mercury News

Local restaurateur Ted Burke says Proposition 19, which would authorize personal use and local regulation of marijuana, is poorly written and poses concerns for all employers in California.

An employee could not be disciplined or terminated for smoking a joint at work unless it “actually impairs” job performance, according to the text of the measure. The measure does not define actual impairment.

“It could mean that an accident would have had to happen first,” said Burke, co-owner of the Crow’s Nest and Shadowbrook restaurant, which employs dozens of people.
