Report notes barriers to broader impact by nurses

As healthcare’s largest workforce, nurses have much to contribute to the reinvention of American care delivery, but myriad legal, educational and professional barriers are stymieing that potential, a new report says. The joint report, The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health, is due out today from the Institute of Medicine and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and notes that nurses are positioned to have direct influence over many of the goals outlined in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
