Reform to rescue county’s uninsured

More than 70,000 uninsured San Joaquin County residents will become eligible for health insurance coverage when a major provision of health care reform is implemented in 2014, according to data from the latest California Health Interview Survey.

San Joaquin trails only Tulare among California’s 58 counties in the percentage of residents 64 or younger who receive coverage under Medi-Cal or Healthy Families, the government’s programs for poor adults and children.
