‘Quality’ issue needs to be addressed: advocate

Healthcare reform did not address the “emerging quality problem” of overuse, it maintained the existing payment system that rewards volume rather than quality, and it may be up to state medical boards to clean up the messes this environment creates, according to author and patient-safety advocate Rosemary Gibson, the opening keynote speaker this morning at the 98th annual meeting of the Federation of State Medical Boards in Chicago.
