Program puts nurses in touch with patients
Sacramento Business Journal

Checking in with patients as she started her shift at Kaiser Permanente’s Sacramento Medical Center, registered nurse Elizabeth Quiles-Tarantino noticed one patient had a heart rate much faster than normal. When the outgoing nurse came in for the bedside briefing before checking out for the day, she said it hadn’t been that high. The nurses, whose shifts overlap, called a doctor and rapid response team, who then assessed the patient and stabilized the heart rate.
