Prognosis worsens for worker health costs

Nationally, workers are expected to pay average premiums of $2,209 in 2011. That’s an increase of 12.4 percent, the biggest increase in four years, according to a report this week by Hewitt Associates, an Illinois-based human resource consulting firm.

Helping drive up premiums a little more than usual is uncertainty over the costs of coverage mandated by heath-care legislation, some analysts say.
