Problems cited at UC Irvine hospital
Modern Healthcare - Gregg Blesch

University of California, Irvine Medical Center was faulted for several deficiencies in a report from the CMS and the California Public Health Department, based on the results of a survey team’s visit in October 2009. According to a Jan. 21 letter distributed to staff by CEO Terry Belmont, the surveyors concluded the 363-bed hospital was out of compliance with three of Medicare’s conditions for participation: oversight, quality assurance and pharmacy services. The CMS also asked for improvements in several other areas, including patient privacy, medical staff oversight and nurses’ administration of drugs and infection control.
