Pharma ties often hidden, study finds
Modern Healthcare

Health advocacy organizations do a poor job of publicly disclosing their financial ties with the pharmaceutical industry, according to a new study published by the American Journal of Public Health. In a study of $3.2 million in grants awarded by Eli Lilly and Co. to health advocacy organizations in the first half of 2007, only 25% of the organizations acknowledged the contributions on their websites, according to the study. Eighteen percent of the 161 groups acknowledged the money in their 2007 annual report, 10% acknowledged that Lilly sponsored the event tied to the grant, and 1% identified Lilly on a corporate sponsors page.
