Palm Drive becomes primary stroke center

Palm Drive Hospital in Sebastopol became certified as a primary stroke center last week.

It became the second hospital in Sonoma County to earn the certification. Kaiser Permanente in Santa Rosa is also certified.

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States, killing about 137,000 Americans every year, according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
