Obama Lobbies Elderly on Benefits of Health Law
New York Times

President Obama dipped back into the volatile politics of health care on Tuesday, using a televised question-and-answer session to attack his Republican critics and remind retirees that the check — a new $250 rebate to help them pay for prescription drugs — is about to go in the mail.

“They still think that none of this should have happened; they don’t think you should be getting these rebates,” Mr. Obama said, previewing the election-year message he will use against Republicans, who argue that the health overhaul should be repealed. “They’d gut the existing consumer protections. They’d put insurance companies back in charge.”
