Nurses and Stanford Hospitals Are at Loggerheads

When representatives of Stanford Hospital & Clinics and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital submitted their “Last, Best, and Final Offer” to its nurses on March 30, their gesture seemed to be an ultimatum of sorts.

Negotiations between the hospitals and some 2,700 nurses at the two hospitals had lasted since January and the current contract between the hospitals and the nurses’ union, the Committee for Recognition of Nursing Achievement, was set to expire the day after that offer, it was Stanford’s last attempt to bring about a détente with its disgruntled nurses.
