Number of state uninsured shows surprising increase
San Diego Union-Tribune

The number of Californians without health insurance jumped 28 percent in the past two years as the recession cost 1.5 million their jobs and the health care coverage that went with employment.

About 8.2 million Californians younger than 65 — or nearly one in four — lacked insurance during all or part of last year, up from 6.4 million in 2007, according to a new University of California Los Angeles study.
