New tool assists Parkinson’s diagnosis

For 11 years, Donald Cunningham was misdiagnosed as having an essential tremor.

His hands involuntarily shake and his doctor determined that he showed signs of this neurological disorder. Eventually, his hands moved so much he couldn’t read his own writing.

Cunningham’s neurologist increased his medication dosage, but then mentioned that Sutter Roseville Medical Center had introduced a new imaging tool to detect early signs of Parkinson’s disease.
