HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced the appointment of five new regional directors, claiming “they will play a vital role in our department’s effort” to implement the new health reform law. The regional directors will serve as representatives on behalf of Sebelius in working with federal, state, local, and tribal officials on a wide range of health and social service issues, according to HHS. “I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead to achieve HHS’ mission to protect the health of all Americans and provide essential human services,” Sebelius said in a written statement.
