Napa health outreach for kids needs improvement

While California struggles to provide health care to special-needs children, Napa County is widely recognized as above the state average in health care coverage for low-income and special needs populations. An estimated one in seven California children has a special health need, but the state ranks worst in the nation on a composite of measures for those children including health insurance, preventive care and ongoing, family-centered care, according to a November study commissioned by Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health.
