Democrat lawmakers on Capitol Hill heralded Kathy Hochul’s victory on Tuesday in a special election in New York’s 26th district as a message from voters on Medicare.

Erie County Clerk Hochul beat state Assemblywoman Jane Corwin, a Republican, and Jack Davis, a Tea Party candidate, in an election to fill the seat of former Rep. Chris Lee (R-N.Y.), who resigned in February on the same day it was reported that he had responded to a personal ad from a woman on Craigslist and had sent her shirtless photo of himself.
