Measure A will help kids, families and businesses

A decade ago, Santa Clara County public and private leaders took a bold stand to become the first county in the nation to ensure that all children had access to health insurance. The development of the Healthy Kids program was the right decision for two reasons: Kids who have access to preventive health care are less often seriously sick and can be more alert in school. And, it meant that children from working families would not have to use hospital emergency rooms — at a high public cost — for treatment of illnesses that could have been avoided.
