Local hospital recognized for its stroke center

Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for certification as a Primary Stroke Center.

It’s the result of six years of work by the hospital to better treat stroke patients.

The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 18,000 health care organizations in the U.S. The non-profit says the hospital in San Luis Obispo has proven that it has the ability to provide effective and timely care to stroke patients.
