Lindsay-area residents are still paying property taxes for a hospital that hasn’t checked a pulse, dispensed an aspirin or taken a temperature in 11 years.

The hospital closed in 2000, yet Lindsay Local Hospital District has collected $4.4 million from district taxpayers, a Times-Delta public records search found.

Though county records list the district as inactive, the Lindsay Local Hospital District has collected an average of $440,702 in property taxes a year, every year, since the doors to Lindsay Hospital closed in 2000.
