Lawsuit claims poor care led to hospital deaths

Doctors and a medical assistant claim in a federal workplace discrimination suit that negligence led to deaths at a Northern California hospital. The San Jose Mercury News says the federal suit claims substandard care led to death of more than one patient at county-run Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. The plaintiffs say they were ignored or embarrassed, and in one case fired, for speaking out about problems in the cardiology department.
