Laws extend care for adults under parents’ plans
San Francisco Chronicle

Young adults will soon qualify for coverage under a parent’s group health insurance policy until age 26, thanks to the new health care laws signed last month. Today, most plans cover dependents only until age 19 or 20 unless they are in college full time or a state law requires coverage until an older age.

The new provision takes effect for plan years beginning on or after Sept. 23.
