Latest cuts in budget showdown include hospitals, CDC

Facing the prospect of a government shutdown on April 8, the House Appropriations Committee late Monday released another temporary spending bill that would keep federal agencies and offices open for another week.

This latest continuing resolution would cut a total of $12 billion in discretionary funding, including $185 million in reductions to hospital preparedness grants, and $156 million in cuts to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s immunization and respiratory disease funding.
