Last-minute delay for Stanford hospital expansion project

After waiting four years to see its hospital expansion project finally poised for approval, Stanford University agreed Monday to hold off for another month or so to work with parents who just learned construction would take place uncomfortably close to their children’s day care facility. Most of the university’s $5 billion project was approved June 6 by the Palo Alto City Council. But a couple of elements, such as a development agreement specifying what community benefits Stanford will provide in exchange for project approval, were to be approved Monday night.
