The Petaluma Health Care District has set in motion plans to build a possible Walgreens store on two acres of land it owns along North McDowell Boulevard, just across the street from Petaluma Valley Hospital. A developer has signed on to build a 15,000-square-foot store on the site and bring the plan through the city approval process. While the deal with Walgreens must still be finalized, the store has previously expressed interest and is considered a likely tenant, said Rick Nadale, the Petaluma Health Care District’s controller. The new building could open in 2013 at the earliest.
