A bill to aid people who fell ill after working in the World Trade Center ruins following 9/11 is expected to face a key test vote in the U.S. Senate on Wednesday.

New York senators Kirsten Gillibrand (KEHR’-sten JIL’-uh-brand) and Charles Schumer said Saturday that a vote is likely on whether to begin formal debate on the bill.

The measure would provide up to $7.4 billion in health care and compensation.
