Kern County lays groundwork for coming healthcare reform

Terrence Johnson, 24, hasn’t had a primary care doctor in years, despite his nagging asthma. But after a particularly severe cold wouldn’t go away, he knew he needed help. A friend pointed Johnson to the county-administered Kern Medical Center Health Plan, and he was able to get insurance and see a doctor. “Now, I have a primary care doctor who is going to find out what’s in my lung,” said Johnson, who works in water maintenance.
