Kaiser starts big in small hospital design contest
San Francisco Business Times

Kaiser Permanente, which garnered more than 400 entries in its “Small Hospital, Big Idea” competition to help it design smaller, innovative hospitals, quietly winnowed down the late March list from 383 (some were disqualified earlier) to about 100 remaining con-ten-duhs. Now, it’s gone one step further, evaluating those remaining contestants, including architects, design firms, students, health care enterprises and engineering/construction firms worldwide, to select nine finalists: Aditazz; Ellerbe Becket; Gresham, Smith and Partners; HGA; Lee, Burkhart, Liu; Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch; Perkins+Will; SmithGroup; and Iceland-based TBL architects.
